This week is Independence Day, and there’s lots going on around Kansas City to celebrate. Check out the list below of things happening in the area on the 4th so you don’t miss out on the fun! Be sure to click the links to get all the event details.
KC Riverfest: 3:30-11p afternoon of entertainment including three stages of live music, U.S. Navy Blue Angels flyover, an Aeroshell Aerobatic Team performance, kids activities, street performers, all the food, and of course, FIREWORKS! Tickets are $5, kids 12 and under are FREE. Cash at the gate or skip the lines and buy in advance on the website.
Fourth of July Celebration at Worlds of Fun: Current and past military members (with a valid ID) get in FREE with complimentary admission on July 4. As a bonus, they can bring up to six guests for $39 each.
Hot Country Nights with Travis Marvin: FREE concert at the Power & Light Live stage! VIP upgrades are available for purchase. Travis Marvin is an independent country artist who was born and raised in Kansas.
Four on the 4th Run/Walk: 4 mile run/walk along Ward Parkway. Registration is $36 for individuals, $32 for groups of 4. Click the link to register!
Village Fest, Prairie Village: 7:30a-1p; bring the family our for lots of fun rides, activities, live music, and food trucks! The event is free, but some activities & food may require purchase.
Leawood 4th of July Celebration: FREE event with live music and fun rides for the kids. Free shuttle busses available for remote parking options.
Lenexa Community Days Parade: Starts at 10a & is free to attend! Click the link for parade route.
Lenexa Freedom Run: This run kicks off at 7am, and has a 5K & 10K option. Registration fees are $30-$35
Overland Park Star Spangled Spectacular: 5p-10p at the Corporate Woods Founders’ Park. Parking available in the area & you can bring your own food/drinks. Be sure to bring a lawn chair!
Overland Park Independence Day Kid Parade: Starts at 10:45, and is followed by sandwiches, chips and water at the Pool at 11:30 and Kona Ice from 11-12pm.
Celebrating the 4th at the Farm: Admission is $3. Kids age two and under are FREE. Event includes games, contests, a bike parade, patriotic lessons, and a chalk walk. Patriotic attire is encouraged.
Lee’s Summit Independence Day 1855: 9a-4:30p; Adults $7, Youth & Seniors $4, children under 5 are free. Patriotic speeches, children’s games, period cooking, dancing, and militia marches are a few of the many interpretive activities.
